I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know when I say, this year has brought many new challenges for all of us, and I appreciate the stress that has affected many members in our branch as well as the wider community. I know that I can speak for all of the committee when I say; it is very encouraging to receive your emails and messages of support. It was with much regret that the last meeting was postponed but I am looking forward to this month’s meeting. We need a meeting so we can get back to some degree of normality. It is with this in mind that this month’s meeting will be a MOA as well as pizza and a few light refreshments.
Please make the effort and come along and share in what should be a great evening.
It is always hard when a member passes away but in this instance especially so. Most of us knew Adrian and had dealings with him, or via his shop. He was a well liked member of our branch, and a very well respected authority in his field.
He will be sorely missed.
On behalf of our members and the committee of Canterbury branch I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to the Mayberry family.

Meetings
Regrettably on the 22nd Feb we had another one of those little freaks of nature! And our normal meeting place and pretty much the rest of Christchurch was damaged or picking up the pieces, so the President cancelled the monthly meeting.
Double regrettably our March meeting was also cancelled, generally because of the amount of traffic congesting our roads at present. Graeme Barber did offer the Woodend School facilities, but this was deemed to be a bit far out of Christchurch and with the traffic congestion, it was felt that our meeting should be put off for another month.
However it is looking good for April, the Radio clubrooms have power and water but no sewage (so remember what you told your kids or were told as a kid “We‟re leaving now, go to the toilet, go now.”)
A map has been provided showing the best/safest route and that will not cause trouble to the locals.
Committee Meeting - 6 April 11.
Mike Harris has been in contact with his man on the West Coast and they are meeting to discuss plans for our expedition. We have been asked by members to discuss shooting. Please read the attached options, this is a reprint of that published in the last newsletter. Scott is point of contact for your email comments scott.b@paradise.net.nz, faxes, etc. (phone number at top of newsletter).
It has been decided that there will job descriptions for each office holder of the committee to move into line with National. Venue for meetings was discussed and it has been decided that kindred clubs will be approached with proposal to increase the membership and benefits for both organisations / clubs.
Next meeting to be a fun night back after the quake, there will be a MOA, included with this newsletter is a copy of the auction sheet. Members are to have this form completed before they come along, or you will be given a blank form and have to fill it out and get back in the queue, members should also have a blank label on their items, numbers will be allocated on the night. Canterbury members will have the $5 discount continue for this month and are allowed the chance to still pay their subs late, thanks to National for granting us this leeway, we appreciate it.
John Abbot is preparing a remit to tidy up the anomaly in membership of National and local members. You can tell we haven't had a meeting for some time as boy did we go off on tangents! Everybody had a story to tell. Thanks again for the great supper. We are plotted to host the half yearly National meeting in September and your committee has decided that we will continue in this vane. Therefore we need items for the auction. Sadly we were advised during the meeting of the death of Adrian Mayberry in a helicopter accident.
